Bowling Four Generations

On September 5th Lariat Bowl hosted a national event to try and break a record of most games bowled in a day. Coupons were available to be printed and used for a free game of bowling. My family and I took advantage of the offer, in doing so we had with us four generations of bowlers bowling that day. My Grandpa, Ed Drummond, originally from Westwood, California, started bowling at Lariat Bowl in the early 1970s right around the same time Lariat Bowl opened. My dad Jeff Drummond, was a bowler from age 10. I spent most of my infant years at the bowling alley but got the chance to start bowling at age 3, when bumpers were not available, so the bowling alley rolled out a piece of carpet part way down the lane for me to walk on to get a little closer to the pins. And now my son David Drummond has started bowling this summer at the age of 2. He is doing great with a high score of 86, getting spares and strikes with the rest of us. David talks about bowling all day long, and has a set of bowling pins at our house, and his grandparents house. Some of us say he is obsessed, I don’t know if it is an obsession or that bowling is flowing through his veins. “Go easy on me I have not bowled in 6 years.“ Ed Drummond said before we got started. Even so we still had a great time. Now David’s mom Suzanne Drummond, has gotten into bowling as well, purchasing her first ball a few months ago. Bowling with the four generations were Suzanne Drummond, Michelle Drummond, Derrek Drummond, and Bobby Hassel. Spectators included, Pat Drummond, Linda Drummond, David’s little brother Toby Drummond, bowling alley patron Rodger, and other Lariat Bowl employees. We plan to all go bowling again real soon. It was a day we all will remember for a very long time.
